In order for Dell and Lenovo drivers to show as applicable when deploying them as 3rd Party updates using Dell or Lenovo's 3rd-Party update catalogs in Configuration Manager, you will need to ensure that the "Dell OpenManage Inventory Agent" (for Dells) and the "Lenovo Updates Catalog Agent" (for Lenovos) are included in your driver updates deployments.

Application Packaging Introduction: Part 1

Due to the wide spread of installer types used by different vendors, application packaging in Windows can be a pretty confusing area to get started in. This blog series will provide a basic introduction early on, in hopes of delving into more specific topics as we go. Packaging an application can vary in difficulty from a straightforward installation taking around 20 minutes to a complex or tricky application soaking up weeks of your time to figure out.

Peer Cache Sources - Failed to do hash verification with preference : 4. Try to verify at next hash algorithm

We recently enabled peer cache in a large environment running SCCM/MEMCM 1906. A package that was previously tested to install successfully now started failing to install. Clients would reach downloading 99% before failing out without ever running the installation. CAS.log showed hash verification failures, and ContentTransferManager.log always showed that the content was downloaded from a peer source. Anti-Virus exclusions, etc. were proven out to be in place and working correctly, and so we added a bogus file to the package in order to get DistMgr to resnapshot the package and redistributed the content out. We then pushed out machine policy and deployment evals, and clients started successfully installing the application. This seemed to be resolved, however, the next day we were right back where we were before with hash validation issues.

Microsoft Edge Preview has been around for a while, and I felt like doing a quick write up on it.

The short and skinny of it is that a single browser solution for enterprises is coming very soon, but you can begin to use this very stable browser in place of Google Chrome immediately (at least for your IT teams). If you aren't testing this browser out and looking towards moving to it, you should be. Microsoft has decided to use a Chromium base for Edge going into the future. This means we have a Microsoft version of Chrome available, which has Microsoft account tie ins in place of all the Google Account stuff (think Office 365). The major thing enterprises will love about it is that you basically have a version of Chrome (with all its compatibility) that also supports the Enterprise Site Mode List - so you can run sites requiring Internet Explorer through an Internet Explorer engine directly in the Chrome browser, leaving all other undefined sites to run in the native Chrom...

Google Chrome MSI 1603 Failures: The Why and How To Fix

Note in 2020 and beyond: In my opinion, you should be using Edge in your enterprise environment at this point. It offers all the same benefits (and engine) as chrome, but with o365 accounts, IE mode for sites that need it (think a single browser in your environment without the need to manage shortcuts to open specific sites in this or that browser), and enhanced security.
